Stephen A. Berthiaume 1957 - 2010 HOLYOKE - Stephen A. Berthiaume, 52, of Holyoke passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield, MA he was the son of Claire (Veins) Berthiaume of Holyoke. He was a lifelong resident of Holyoke and a 1975 graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School. He worked at C & S Wholesale in North Hatfield. Steve was an avid Hot Wheels collector and card collector. He was a proud member of the Connecticut Valley Diecast Hot Wheel Club. Steve also enjoyed going shad fishing, playing softball, football, and basketball. He refereed for many years at Sacred Heart CYO Basketball league in Holyoke, but most of all, he will be missed by the family and friends he has left to cherish his memory. Besides his mother, he leaves his beloved wife of 33 years Debra (Williamson) Berthiaume of Holyoke; his loving children, Janara and her husband John Healy of Holyoke, Amy and her husband Edward Denette of Ludlow, his caring & loving grandchildren; Juliana, Lilyana, Jack, Henry James, Mia, Paige, Mason, and Gabrielle; his brothers, Paul and his partner Sue of Sunderland, Ronnie and his wife Lynn of Holyoke, a sister, Michelle Gorecki and her husband George of Holyoke, a very special sister-in-law & brother-in-law Theresa and David Wodecki of Holyoke, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends throughout the community. THE QUARTER FINAL RACE WAS WON BY RUSS LIMA AND HIS BERNSTEIN FUNNY CAR TURNING THE TIMES IN AT 3.74 RUSS HAD A FIGHT ON HIS HAND WITH STEVES RED LINE SCHOOL BUS AND ALL OF THE KINGS FASTEST CARS OVER THE LAST QUARTER. NEXT MONTH STARTS A NEW QUARTER SO GET IN THE HUNT FOR THE TROPHY AND A CHANCE TO COMPETE IN THE FASTEST CAR RACE AT THE END OF THE YEAR.

Hope everyone is doing well, Summer is here and the kids are getting out of school and our club is heating up for one of the biggest shows the East Coast has ever seen. Plenty of new guests and some great cars being done by Liberty and Pope designs as well as Jimmy Chavez and V man. I’ve seen some of the cars being done for the Smash and there is no doubt these will be some of the best castings you will ever see. I’m really excited about this years show. There will be a special Celebrity Breakfast Saturday morning for our good friend from Mattel “Chris “Rodger Dodger” Parker, the breakfast will be in the ticket packet if you decide to join us. We will be limiting the event to only 100 people with a special “V Man designed car just for this event. You won’t want to miss it.
I’m glad to say the hotel has reserved many rooms so far so this event should be a sell out, get your tickets as soon as you can and don’t forget to make your room reservations.
We have just secured the rights to sell the new Hot Wheel playing cards they will be on sale for 2.00 we should have them for this meeting but we will have them for sure in the months to come and of course at summer smash.
Joe Kelly from “Car Room Magazine” will also be coming to the Smash bringing a live internet feed direct from the Crowne Plaza. Joe will be showing the world what a great time the Smash will be.
Our good friends at diecastspace.com should have the new web site up, it will be very user friendly and I encourage everyone to check it out.
Just talked to Toy Pallet and he will be bringing plenty of new garage cars and basic cars to the meeting from the new K case, the new 30 car set will also be on display at the June meeting.
It’s always good to do a favor for our fellow members and I want to thank everyone who donates every month to help George D out of all the flood damage he has endured. So from me and George thank you very much.

Don’t forget June 24th through the 27th will be the big Orlando show put on by CJ of Diecastspace.com if you have the opportunity to go to Florida this Summer don’t miss this show.
FEATURE CAR RACE FOR JUNE IS SIDEKICKS “NO REDLINES” THIS RACE WILL DETERMINE THE FASTEST SIDEKICK AT OUR CLUB AND THEY WILL BE BANNED TILL THE END OF THE YEAR. THIS WILL KEEP IT FAIR SO OTHERS HAVE A CHANCE TO RACE AND WIN. WE ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO RACE AND THIS IS ONE WAY TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN. PLEASE DON’T FEEL LIKE THE SAME PEOPLE WIN EVERY MONTH CARS GET RETIRED AND OTHERS HAVE A CHANCE TO COMPETE. COME AND RACE THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A BETTER CHANCE TO WIN THEN NOW.

According to Target stores in the area a new series of color changers will be out featuring all the recent club cars from Connecticut Valley and Rhode Island, I know you don’t believe it but it’s true.

No more treasure hunts next year

No more variations next year

No more signature garage cars next year

No more exclusive Wal-Mart colors next year

Mystery cars for 2011 will only have treasure hunts in them, no peeking!!!

This is not a contradiction to the first t hunt rumor this is what came down the rumor trail.

Jeremy told me that Johnny Lightning will be taking over the Treasure hunt division of Mattel so that they can keep the excitement of running down the aisles in the morning alive. Way to go Jeremy.
